Gulzar Pens The Lyrics For A Film In Shor Se Shuruaat Anthology
The film is titled Hello Hello and is one of the seven films of the Shor Se Shuruaat anthology which will premiere at the ongoing MAMI Film Festival. It is a collection of films crafted by the assistants of filmmakers like Shyam Benegal, Sriram Raghavan, Mira Nair and Imtiaz Ali among others
It’s rare that
people get an opportunity work with veteran Gulzar. And when it happens so
early in your career, you just can’t be thankful enough!
This is the story
of debutante filmmaker Pratik
Rajen Kothari whose film
Hello Hello is a part of the 7 film anthology- Shor Se Shuruaat. The lyrics of Hello Hello
have been penned down by Gulazar.

Sharing how he
thought of Gulzar while ideating about the film, Pratik said, ‘I was acting in a play called Atthanniyan-
Mumbai Mahanagar Ki which was a collage of short stories and nazms written by
Gulzar Saab. So when we
were given the theme 'noise' for Shor Se Shuruaat, I kept thinking of one of
his nazms 'Ishtehaaron ka sheher hai ye shayad' (perhaps, it is a city of
advertisements). As the story and screenplay evolved it derived a lot of
inspiration from this nazm.’
So when Pratik
went to Gulzar Saab & requested him if he would be able to write a short
poem for his film’s theme song, Gulzar graciously agreed!
Once Pratik
discussed with him the plot and the screenplay of the film, Gulzar penned down,
'Hello Hello bechtey hain...saare papad belte hain...graahak jab tak behra naa
ho...hutu hutu khelte hain'.
The song has been
sung by Rekha Bhardwaj, and the music has been composed by Amod Bhatt. He has
earlier composed Gulzar Saab's nazms for Atthanniyan.
Well, it’s
definitely a big achievement and moment for the makers and team of Hello Hello
to have such eminent personalities on board for their film.
